Coffee Drink Profit Calculator

A coffee menu is priced by the cup, but beans and milk are bought and costed in bulk — by the kilogram and the litre. This calculator scales your bulk prices down to the actual dose in one drink, adds packaging and any syrup, and shows the margin against the price you charge.

The formula, in the open

  • Bean cost = bean cost per kg × dose in grams ÷ 1,000.
  • Milk cost = milk cost per litre × milk volume in ml ÷ 1,000.
  • Packaging cost = cup + lid + sleeve.
  • Total cost = bean cost + milk cost + packaging cost + any syrup.
  • Profit = selling price − total cost.
  • Margin = profit ÷ selling price × 100 — expressed against what you charge, not against cost, so it reads the same way a till percentage would.

A worked example

Beans at ₹2,400/kg, an 18g double shot: bean cost is 2,400 × 18 ÷ 1,000 = ₹43.20, rounded to ₹43. Milk at ₹60/litre, 150ml: milk cost is 60 × 150 ÷ 1,000 = ₹9. Cup, lid and sleeve together are ₹10, plus ₹8 of vanilla syrup: total cost is 43 + 9 + 10 + 8 = ₹70. At a ₹180 selling price, profit is 180 − 70 = ₹110, a 61.1% margin (110 ÷ 180).

What moves the number

Dose and milk volume move the cost more than the bulk price usually does — a larger cup with more milk, or a double shot instead of a single, changes the recipe cost even if your supplier price never moves. Syrup and packaging are small individually but add up across a full menu, which is why they're separate fields here instead of a lump "other costs" guess.
