Pizza Cost and Price Calculator

A pizza's ingredient cost is dough, sauce and cheese plus whatever toppings go on top of it — and toppings are where the cost quietly climbs, one per-unit cost and quantity at a time. This calculator adds up one pizza's full ingredient cost, then works out the price that hits a food-cost percentage YOU choose.

The formula, in the open

  • Toppings cost = for each topping, its per-unit cost × the quantity used, added up across all the toppings on the pizza (up to four).
  • Total ingredient cost = dough + sauce + cheese + toppings cost.
  • Suggested price = total ingredient cost ÷ target food-cost % — the same "cost over target" arithmetic as our food cost calculator, applied to one pizza instead of one dish.

A worked example

Dough ₹25, sauce ₹10 and cheese ₹45, plus mushroom (₹8 a unit × 3) and pepperoni (₹15 a unit × 2): toppings cost ₹24 + ₹30 = ₹54, so total ingredient cost is 25 + 10 + 45 + 54 = ₹134. At a 28% target food cost, the suggested price is 134 ÷ 0.28 ≈ ₹479.

What moves the number

Toppings are almost always the largest and most variable line — a pizza with three meat toppings can cost several times one with none. Quantity matters as much as the per-unit price: a generous hand with cheese or a premium topping changes the ingredient cost even when every unit price on the sheet stays the same, which is exactly why this calculator asks for quantity as its own field rather than folding it into the price.
